The EMSO Preparatory Phase Governance

An important interaction will take place between EMSO-PP and the ESONET NoE (Network of Excellence). Both, EMSO-PP and ESONET NoE deal with different aspects of a common goal: to establish a sub-sea observatory research infrastructure in Europe.

 

The evolution and complementarity of ESONET/EMSO is further detailed in the figure 1.3.1.1. On the one hand, the diagram indicates the reciprocal services and “outputs” of the two projects, on the other hand their synchronised time schedule.

A complementarity exists also with KM3NeT Preparatory Phase (KM3NeT-PP), another project on the ESFRI Roadmap. This neutrino telescope infrastructure opens a chance to observe sub-sea sites for several marine disciplines in the vicinity. The three existing neutrino projects (ANTARES, NEMO, and NESTOR) federated by KM3NET are all corresponding to a site of interest of ESONET, potentially eligible to be selected by EMSO PP. KM3NET is considered in the work plan as a Regional Legal Entity (RLE).
